Salisbury, MD - NBA Hall of Famer, Rick Barry, willbe at the Wicomico Civic Center on Wednesday, December 30th, supportingthe NHSCA High School Basketball Festival. Rick will be in attendanceduring the evening session from 5:45pm to 10:30pm.
Barry, whowas elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1987 isthe only player ever to lead the NCAA, NBA, and the ABA in scoring. Hescored more then 25,000 points in his professional career and in fourdifferent seasons averaged more then 30 points per game. He was namedto 12 All-Star teams, four All-NBA First Teams, and five All-ABA FirstTeams.
After winning the NBA Championship in 1975, Barry wasawarded the NBA Finals MVP award for helping the Golden State Warriorssweep the Washington Bullets in four games. In 1996, Barry was named tothe NBA’s 50th Anniversary All-Time Team.

In the late1980s and early 1990s, Barry was mentioned mainly as the father of fourtalented college and professional players. Scooter Barry played for theUniversity of Kansas and then in the Continental BasketballAssociation; Jon played for Georgia Tech and various NBA teams. Barry'ssecond youngest son, Drew, played for Georgia Tech, and the youngestson, Brent, played at Oregon State and entered the NBA as the 15thoverall selection of the 1995 Draft by the Denver Nuggets although hisdraft rights were traded to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Barrywill be attending the National High School Coaches AssociationBasketball Festival that will be running from December 26th to December30th at the Wicomico Civic Center in Salisbury, MD. In conjunction withthe Wicomico Civic Center, the NHSCA Basketball Festival will featuretwenty-nine teams from the Maryland area will be competing during thefive day event. Barry will be at the Wicomico Civic Center during thenight session on December 30th, to talk with players and coaches andsigning autographs for those in attendance.
