NHSCA National High School Wrestling Festivals Comes back for its 9th Straight Year

EASTON, PA. (January 11, 2010) The National High School Coaches Association will be hosting the National High School Wrestling Festival for its ninth consecutive year. The event will be held on Saturday January 16, 2010 at Pleasant Valley High School in Brodheadsville, Pennsylvania with the first session beginning at 9:00 a.m. 

Number one ranked team in the nation, Blair Academy (Blairstown, NJ), will be making another appearance to the festival this year to see if they can top their 72 point shutout performance over Archbishop Wood from last year’s event. Also returning from last year will be: Stroudsburg, East Stroudsburg North, East Stroudsburg South, Tunkhannock, Archbishop Wood, Mansfield, and hosting school Pleasant Valley. 

Newcomers to this year’s festival include: Northampton, Timberlane, Northeast Catholic, Pocono Mountain East, Pocono Mountain West, Central Bucks East, Central Bucks South, St. John Vianney, St. Augustine Prep, St. Benedict’s Prep, Mendham, Bishop Eustace, and Souderton will round out the field of 22 teams to compete in this year’s event. 

The finals of the tournament will be broadcast free on NHSCA.com via Livestream starting at 9 a.m.  

Along with the dual meet- tournament all teams will have an opportunity to enter their Junior Varsity (JV) wrestlers to compete against other Junior Varsity wrestlers.  The JVs will be competing in a mini-individual-tournament of their own.
