The nation's premier youth wrestling event comes to the spectacular Virginia Beach Convention Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia on March 24-26 , 2010 as the site of the NHSCA National Middle & Elementary School Wrestling Championships. More than 600 of the nation's best 4th through 8th grade wrestlers are expected to compete in what promises to be non-stop, action-packed, sold-out excitement.
The NHSCA has waived the necessity to qualify for this event, it is open to any/all wrestlers that wish to compete. The event will be conducted side-by-side with the High School National event. The Middle and Elementary school wrestlers will be competing in the same arena with all the high school studs competing in the Freshman, Sophomore and Junior Nationals! This as a showcase of the future high school wrestling superstars and will afford them the opportunity to be exposed to the very highest level of high school wrestling in the same arena. Following the completion of the Middle and Elementary school event, the 21st annual Senior Nationals will be wrestled. All participants in the Middle and Elementary School Nationals will receive free admission to the Senior Nationals.
For 20 years, Olympic and NCAA Champions such as Cael Sanderson years have competed at the NHSCA National High School Wrestling Championships. NOTE: Wrestlers and coaches do not need to purchase tickets. However, coaches must be 2009-10 members of the National High School Coaches Association. No other organizations will be recognized. With the membership, you will receive tremendous benefits. The membership may be purchased online or on site at registration for $100.
Eligibility
Must be enrolled in grades 4-6 or grades 6-8. 6th graders can choose the level at which they compete.
All Entries must be submitted on-line at www.nhsca.com by March 21. There is no walk in wrestler registration.

Elementary School (Grades 4-6): 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 112, 119, 125, 132, 160
There will be a 3-pound weight allowance for both divisions.
Matches - All championship bracket Middle School championship matches will be 1.5-1.5-1.5 minute periods. Elementary matches will be 1-1-1.
There will be full double-elimination consolation brackets.
Awards - One National Middle School and one National Elementary School Champion will be declared in each weight class. The top eight place finishers in each weight class will receive awards. An outstanding wrestler award as well as the most falls in the least time award will be given at the conclusion of the finals.
State Team Awards - Each competitor will have the opportunity to score points for their state. The top three states will receive team awards and the winning state will take home the National Championship Cup to display at their State Championships.
Note: All wrestlers competing in the Middle and Elementary School Nationals will receive free admission to the 21st Annual Senior National event. The Senior Nationals will begin March 26 and finish on March 28th. Wrestlers need to keep on their competition wristband to gain admission to the Senior National event.

The qualifying system for this event has been terminated in an attempt to bring this opportunity to all. For the first time in the history of middle & elementary school sporting events, a true national championship has been developed! The level of competition will be tremendous.

NEW YORK WINS COMBINED TEAM TITLE IN MIDDLE SCHOOL NATIONALS; VIRGINIA CROWNS 7 CHAMPIONS
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA - Host Virginia crowned seven individual champions and New York won the combined team title in the 2nd annual NHSCA National Elementary and Middle School Wrestling Championships April 5-6 at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.
Six of Virginia's champions were in the Middle School Division: Travis Wilson (78 pounds), Eddie Bracy Jr. (88), Louie Altamirano (103), Jacob Seymour (108), Christian Olanowski (115) and Dashon Eure (145). Virginia's seventh champion was 68-pound Elementary Division champion Gabriel Crawford.
New York had three champions in each division. Corey Dake (93), Austyn Hayes (168) and Kyle Todd (183) won Middle School Division titles and Kyle Quinn (58), Jake Benedict (83) and Timothy Halaby (108) won the Elementary Division. Fifteen states crowned at least one champion in the two events.
The NHSCA selects Coaches and Senior Athletes of the Year in 20 boys and girls sports, and sponsors more than two dozen national championship events in 11 sports. The 19th annual National High School Wrestling Championships attracted over 2,500 wrestlers from all four grade levels to Virginia Beach, Va. last week, and the NHSCA conducted 16 championship events last year. The NHSCA, in partnership with Navy Special Operations, conducts the Navy SEAL Fitness Challenge in 1200 high schools throughout America. This serves as a replacement for President Kennedy's Council on Fitness that was popular in the 1970's and 1980's. In partnership with the Pennsylvania National Guard, the NHSCA also conducts Character and Leadership Workshops and reach more than 800 Pennsylvania high schools and 9600 athletes and coaches.
