6th Annual Beach Wrestling Championship

The U.S. OPEN Championship is a scholastic style wrestling event that incorporates 4 divisions of wrestling under one roof. Wrestlers must qualify for the U.S. OPEN through an NHSCA State Championships. NHSCA State Qualifiers are conducted throughout the country. The U.S. OPEN features some of the best wrestlers that the country has to offer. In years past, nearly 1200 competitors across over 35 states have competed. The wrestling will take place over the 4th of July Holiday weekend. The Beach is just a few miles away and competitors will no doubt be taking in the sun after their wrestling is complete.

Eligibility:

Grade during the 2009-2010 School Year

Pre-Qualified for the US Open:

  • Top 6 NHSCA Pre-Season
  • Top 6 NHSCA US Open State Championship
  • Top 8 NHSCA Elementary/Middle School Nationals
  • Top 8 NHSCA High School Nationals
  • Top 8 NHSCA Senior Nationals
  • Top 4 NHSCA National Duals in each Division
  • College/Open Divisions DO NOT have to qualify

You Do NOT have to wrestle at the weight you qualified but, you MUST wrestle in the same division!

College / Open Division: (3 lb. allowance)
125, 133, 141, 149, 157, 165, 174, 184, 197, 285.

High School Division, Grades 9-12: (3 lb. allowance)
103, 112, 119, 125, 130, 135, 140, 145, 152, 160, 171, 189, 215, 285.

Middle School Division, Grades 6-8: (2 lb. allowance)
75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 112, 119, 127, 135, 142, 154, 165, 180  230

Elementary School Division, Grades 4-6: (1 lb. allowance)
55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 112, 119, 125, 132, 160

Matches:
All divisions feature double-elimination with full consolation brackets.


Awards:
The top eight finishers in each weight class will receive awards.  Top eight finishers in the High School divisions will be officially recognition as Open All-Americans. An Outstanding Wrestler award in each division will be given at the conclusion of the finals.
Note: You must be present on the awards stand at the finals in order to receive your award.


Team Scoring:
The top point scorer in each weight class from each state will be designated as the point scorer at that weight class for that state. The state team score will include scores from all four divisions.


Team Awards: This year's event will name the Club Team Champion, Club Team Runner-Up, and Club Team 3rd place finisher.
